Story – The story is about two neighbouring kingdom who were enemies. The enmity between these two kingdom was so vast that it was told that only a great hero or a villain can unit these two kingdoms together. Where, one kingdom had humans with a king ruling over the people, who was a rude, greedy, envious person. Whereas, in the other kingdom, which is, a forest lived various strange, mysterious, magical creatures and they had no king to rule them over, as they trusted each other. There lived a young girl, who was not just an ordinary girl but who was a kind-hearted, loveable, caring, beautiful fairy called Maleficent (Angelina Jolie).

One day a young boy Stefan (Sharlto Copley) enter the kingdom in the forest and steals a precious stone, the guards of the forest catch him. Maleficent assure him he will not be harmed if he returns what he stole and then the young boy comes out and this is the first time Maleficent sees a human. Maleficent takes back what is stolen from him and then walk until the border on the two kingdom for he goes back home safely. Both like each other and become friends, slowly the friendship turns into love. On the 16th birthday of Maleficent Stefan gives her a gift, which he says it is a true love kiss.

As the years passed by Maleficent grew up to be the strongest of the fairies and the protector of the forest kingdom but Stefan grows up his temptations towards the kingdom pulled him away and kept him away from Maleficent.  King Henry (Kenneth Cranham) attacks the Moors as to conquer the kingdom and destroy all the strange creatures. Maleficent succeeds in protecting the Moors leaving King Henry badly hurt. King Henry announces that he who kills Maleficent shall marry the king’s only daughter and be the crowned as a king. On hearing this, Stefan meets Maleficent after many years and after taking her into his trust gives her a drug and she falls asleep. After which he tries to kill her but he could not, hence he cuts her wings off and takes it to the king showing him as a proof that he has killed her. As promised by the king, Stefan is married to the king’s daughter and crowned him as the king. Meanwhile, Maleficent turns a raven into a human to safe its life and in return, he has to be her lost wings and her spy. Diaval (Sam Riley) the raven reveals her that Stefan is crowned as a king, Maleficent  learns that Stefan betrayed her to become the king which leaves are in heartbroken, anger due to which she declares herself as the Queen of Moors as the kingdom leading to dark.

Days passed by and one day Diaval informs Maleficent that Stefan is blessed with a daughter and they would be having a christening for his daughter soon. Though uninvited Maleficent arrives at the christening of Stefan’s daughter Aurora and gives the little baby a curse, on the girl’s sixteenth birthday she will prick her finger on the spindle of a wheel and fall into deep sleep like death. Stefan begs her for mercy and to way out for this curse. After which Maleficent says the curse can be broken only with a “true love kiss”.

What will happen to the baby after the curse? How will the baby grow up until she attains sixteen? Would she find her true love before turning sixteen? What will happen on the day she turns sixteen? Will she fall asleep forever due to the curse? To know this you will have to watch the movie.

Say on the Film – Angelina Jolie has done justice to her role and all other characters in the movie too has given a wonderful performance. Good old story, the visual effects were good.

Closing Remarks – No matter what your age is, you would love to watch the Disney movies.
