Day 17 – Optional prompt. Today, I challenge you to write a nocturne. In music, a nocturne is a composition meant to be played at night, usually for piano, and with a tender and melancholy sort of sound. Your nocturne should aim to translate this sensibility into poetic form! Need more inspiration? Why not listen to one of history’s most famous nocturnes, Chopin’s Op. 9 No. 2?
A walk on the terrace at late night,
It ain’t pitch dark, as the moon and stars shine,
Thoughts, wishes, and dreams are high,
At this point in the late night.
It is a bliss to stand still and stare,
Passing near the moon are the clouds in grey,
A beautiful orange sky here and there,
Suddenly I wish, I was with my soulmate.
The cold breeze making my body chill,
Simultaneously my handset plays a romantic music,
A feeling that is enigmatic,
Hope this angelic night could be everlasting.
