Day 6 – NaPoWriMo 2017 – A Dedication…

Published 06th April 2017 by viewsofpreethib

Day 6 – NaPoWriMo – Prompt for today, “I’d like to challenge you to write a poem that looks at the same thing from various points of view. The most famous poem of this type is probably Wallace Stevens’ “Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird”. You don’t need to have thirteen ways of looking at something – just a few will do!”.
Happy writing!

Hope I have got the prompt right…..

A Dedication…

You bring challenge in oneself,
You bring inspiration in oneself,

A-Z Challenge: E.E. Cummings

Published 05th April 2014 by viewsofpreethib

This particular poem holds a very special place in my heart. The very first time I heard this poem was a few months back in a movie called ” In her shoes”. I was so shocked and surprised as I had written a very similar poem a few years back, to be precise on 8th Jan 2009.  I had named my poem as “Carry you in my heart”.

‘I carry your heart’

I carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want

Lullaby

Sleep, pretty lady, the night is enfolding you;
Drift, and so lightly, on crystalline streams.
Wrapped in its perfumes, the darkness is holding you;

Blessedly quiet, the blare of the day.
All the sweet hours may your visions be glamorous-
Sleep, pretty lady, as long as you may.

A-Z Challenge: Carl Sandburg

Published 03rd April 2014 by viewsofpreethib

3rd Day for the A-Z Challenge and the letter is “C”.  I decided to choose  the poet “Carl Sandburg” and his poem called  “Dream Girl”.

The title of this poem reminds me of a song called “Dream Girl” from a very old  Bollywood movie.

*I know, I know you must be humming the song now* 😉

Dream Girl

You will come one day in a waver of love,
Tender as dew, impetuous as rain,
The tan of the sun will be on your skin,
The purr of the breeze in your murmuring speech,
You will pose with a hill-flower grace.

Santa Claus

Halt! Who goes there? The sentry’s call
Rose on the midnight air
Above the noises of the camp,
The roll of wheels, the horses’ tramp.
The challenge echoed over all–
Halt! Who goes there?
